Google does not like SEO tools, which make automated queries to their database. So just what is wrong with this? Google specifically mentions Web Position Gold as tool, which makes automated queries. One affiliate reports that there have been over a million copies of this tool sold. Since each one of these tools can make thousands of queries to Goggle’s database this puts an extra load on the servers.
This extra workload can slow down the results for legitimate searchers. From the point of view of Google this accomplishes nothing. Their business is selling advertising along with search results. It is no wonder they are now blocking Web Position Gold. All of the extra queries can degrade the service level Google provides to it customers and Web Position stands to profit from this degradation. These automated queries violate the basic principle of doing business “When marketing or selling your product, you can not subtract from anyone else’s ability to sell or market their product.” If you are guilty of breaking this principle your business will fail, it is only a matter of time and I think the time is now up for software of the likes of Web Position.
It seems like the main function of this software is to print up reports of web site performance. Please correct me if I am wrong on this point, as I have never used these programs. Why can’t we just use Google Analytics, Webalizer or Awstats?
Wouldn’t it be a much better use of our time to create useful content instead of calculating endless reports about how we are doing? Shouldn’t we spend our time creating better web sites instead endlessly querying to find out if they are better or not?
