Crop And Resize Pictures Using Windows Paint
Pictures taken with digital cameras are much too large to put on your web site but Windows Paint can make it possible. Windows Paint can either crop or resize pictures for you reducing their size. Cropping means to remove an area from the picture, usually from the center. If there is too much background around your subject you can crop the background and leave your subject. To resize a picture is to reduce its size by removing some pixels reducing the overall size of the picture while keeping the entire image.
To Resize A Picture Using Windows Paint
First open this image in Windows Paint ( start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint ) If the picture is too big you can resize it by choosing image from the drop down menu then choosing the resize option from that menu. Put the same number in in both of these places, using 50 will reduce it by half. It is necessary to put the same number in both to keep the the picture proportional. This will reduce the size of the picture while keeping all elements in the picture.
Cropping A Picture Using Windows Paint
First open this image in Windows Paint ( start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint ) To crop or remove some of the elements from the picture, Click select, second over at the top, then place your mouse in one of the corners of the area you want to keep and begin drag to the opposite corner while holding on the left side your mouse. This should form a box with a dotted line border. The menu option crop will become available after making your box around the part of the picture you want to keep. After making your selection box, choose crop from the image menu . The areas outside this box will be removed.
During the picture editing process you can go back or repeat a step by using the ctr-z Windows short-cut key, but always remember to work on a copy not the original picture.
