What Is A URL?

A uniform resource locator (URL) is the address of a file on the Internet. Contained within the URL is the protocol for finding it. The most common is hypertext protocol (http). A protocol is simply a set of procedures to accomplish a task. If you have a domain name of youramericanbusiness.com and it refers to a file on the Internet it could be reached using hypertext protocol, in this case the URL would be http://youramericanbusiness.com/
